Czech Republic imposes sanctions against Russian who insured tankers of Russia’s “shadow fleet”

Prague expects that he will be included in the EU sanctions list in the future.

The Czech government has approved the introduction of sanctions against Konstantin Rogač due to his participation in schemes to insure tankers belonging to Russia’s “shadow fleet”. This is reported by České Noviny.

The decision was announced by Czech Foreign Minister Petr Macinka. According to him, Rogač has a long-term residence permit in the Czech Republic and for the past three years has been involved in brokering insurance for oil tankers used by Russia to circumvent sanctions.

Prague notes that Rogač is a Russian citizen who recently also received Israeli citizenship.

According to Macinka, over the past decade he has provided commercial services in the field of international maritime transportation through companies registered in Russia, Cyprus and the Czech Republic. At the same time, for the past three years, according to the Czech side, he has knowingly worked specifically with tankers of the Russian “shadow fleet”.

The Czech government has included Rogač in its national sanctions list, with the expectation that the next step will be to include him in the EU sanctions list.

Also, the day before, USM wrote that the captain of a Russian “shadow fleet” tanker was sentenced to a year in prison.
