This season, “Noosfera” delivered the Pink Flamingo tracked all-terrain vehicle to the Akademik Vernadsky Station.

This was reported by the National Antarctic Science Center.

The Akademik Vernadskyi Station received a modified and converted into construction equipment Finnish Sisu Nasu tracked all-terrain vehicle.

It was delivered on the “Noosfera” icebreaker, after which it was loaded from the ship onto a self-propelled pontoon.

“Delivery to the shore of Galindez Island was a real logistical operation, because the Pink Flamingo weighs 7 tons. The all-terrain vehicle is capable of lifting large loads and transporting them along the complex mountainous terrain of the island where Vernadskyi is located. Therefore, it will significantly help our polar explorers modernize the station’s infrastructure,” the National Antarctic Science Center noted.

The scientists also filmed how the 7-ton vehicle was delivered from the “Noosfera” to the station.
