The President’s office held a meeting with diplomats of partners on countering the Russian shadow fleet

The President’s Office presented the diplomats with a model for arresting vessels of the Russian Federation’s “shadow fleet.”
This was reported by the Deputy Head of the President’s Office, Pavlo Palis.
The participants discussed mechanisms for circumventing international sanctions, identifying Western-made components in Russian missiles, as well as a model for arresting vessels that the SBU has developed as a practical tool for countering the “shadow fleet.” Special attention was paid to coordination between partners and strengthening control over the activities of vessels.
Palis emphasized that each loophole closed untimely gives Russia additional resources for the production of missiles and drones.
“That is why it is critically important to act as a single system – through information exchange and joint decisions that really limit the aggressor’s ability to finance the war. We thank the partners who have already joined this work,” he noted, emphasizing that countering the “shadow fleet” is a matter of common security for all of Europe.
Recall, earlier this month, the SBU exposed an international group that, at the request of Russia, purchased ships for a “shadow fleet” in European countries – the participants in the scheme turned off navigation equipment and secretly transferred the ships to the Russian side in neutral waters.
