EMSA has transferred a new batch of special equipment to Ukrainian ports

The European Maritime Safety Agency (EMSA) has transferred a new batch of special equipment to Ukrainian ports to respond to water pollution.
This was reported by the Sea Ports Administration of Ukraine.
These are boom barriers, mobile floating tanks and specialized pumps. The equipment has already been transferred to the Black Sea Port. If necessary, it can also be used to work in other ports of Ukraine.
The issue of eliminating the consequences of possible pollution has become particularly important in the context of constant attacks on port infrastructure and civilian vessels. In particular, we are talking about cases of water pollution after strikes on port facilities, which require a quick response to minimize the consequences and ensure stable operation of ports.

“Today, when port infrastructure regularly becomes a target of Russian attacks, it is important for us to be ready not only to resume work after shelling, but also to promptly respond to their consequences,” said Mykola Kravchuk, head of the State Enterprise “USPA”.
According to the head of the enterprise, the transferred equipment will allow to strengthen the capabilities of ports to respond to such incidents and will become an important element of the port infrastructure security system.
EMSA support is part of systematic cooperation with European partners aimed at increasing the resilience of the Ukrainian port industry and its readiness for new challenges.
“I am grateful to EMSA and partners from the European Union for this support. In the current conditions, such solutions are of not only environmental, but also strategic importance for the resilience of Ukrainian ports,” Kravchuk noted.
USM previously reported that 200 million tons of cargo were transported through the Ukrainian maritime corridor.
