Specialized services and scientific institutions continue to monitor the Black Sea water area after the sinking of the GOLDEN LEO vessel near Odesa.
This was reported by the Odesa Regional Military Administration.
By decision of the extraordinary meeting of the commission on technogenic and environmental safety and emergencies, all specialized services and scientific institutions continue to constantly monitor the Black Sea water area and are ready to respond promptly to any changes in the situation.
A mechanism for the prompt involvement, if necessary, of the necessary response equipment, in particular sorbents and specialized equipment, has also been determined.
Based on the results of the analysis of satellite materials, it was possible to establish the location of the sunken vessel. As of July 29, 2026, no signs of contamination of the sea area with oil products were detected.
Monitoring continues. The situation is under constant control.
Earlier, USM reported that the environmental inspection is checking the condition of the water area after the sinking of the vessel in Odesa.
The Golden Leo, a corn-laden ship, was hit by a Russian attack on July 19 as it left the port of Odesa. The cargo ship became unseaworthy and sank on July 26 about five nautical miles off the coast of Odesa. Ten people died as a result of the attack.
