The shutdown of Ukrainian ports complicates the increase in salaries of UZ employees

Starting in September 2026, the salary level of railway workers will increase by an average of 15%. UZ emphasizes that the process is complicated by the blockade of ports.

In general, the salary increase will affect 150 thousand employees, said Oleksandr Pertsovskyi, Chairman of the Board of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, in a video address to industry workers, writes the CTS.

According to him, the smallest increase will be 10%, and the largest motivation, in the amount of 20%, will be received by those who work in conditions of the highest risks under the enemy’s sights – drivers, assistant drivers, locomotive workers.

In particular, the increase will not affect managers either at the regional level or at the level of the central apparatus.

The Chairman of the Board of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia noted that they had promised to increase the salaries of railway workers at UZ for a long time.

“It is difficult to do this today, because the ports have stopped. The enemy is targeting our largest clients in the metallurgy industry, miners. Their workload has fallen critically today – to extremely low levels. At the same time, the level of the proposed indexation is still insufficient, given the lag of the level of wages on the railways from the average in the industry. This gap reaches 30%,” Oleksandr Pertsovsky emphasized.

He also added that every month UZ will review the dynamics of the workload and look for new resources to optimize costs. In particular, in 2027 they plan to find new opportunities for indexing the income of railway workers.
