Without Black Sea ports, Ukraine can export only half of its agricultural products, — Vysotskyi

Without the resumption of the operation of deep-water Black Sea ports, Ukraine is able to export only about 45–50% of agricultural products intended for foreign markets.

This was stated by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Taras Vysotskyi.

According to him, with current logistical capabilities in the 2026/27 marketing year, Ukraine risks not exporting about 30 million tons of agricultural products. In September, agricultural exports amounted to 2.4 million tons, or 46% of the potentially required volume. In particular, 1.4 million tons of grains were exported, or 38% of the possible indicator, oilseeds – 444 thousand tons, or 83%, oil – 311 thousand tons, or 64%, and meal – 280 thousand tons, or 46%.

Vysotsky noted that the indicator of 46% has practically not changed since September 20. According to his assessment, 45–50% is the actual limit for current alternative routes.

The largest volume in September was transported via the Danube — 1.3 million tons, or 54% of agricultural exports. 993 thousand tons, or 41%, were exported by rail, 120 thousand tons, or 5%, by road.

At the same time, the Minister recalled that due to limited crop storage capabilities, Ukraine’s additional need for storage capacity is estimated at approximately 11 million tons.

To cover it, Ukraine has already attracted more than $ 17.5 million in support from international partners for the purchase of grain sleeves, which will be transferred free of charge to agricultural producers in front-line territories. Free receipt of sleeves is provided for agricultural producers with an area of from 100 hectares to 3 thousand hectares. Their issuance should begin in October.
