Romania plans to accelerate grain exports through the port of Constanta

The Romanian Ministry of Transport will issue an order that provides for the planning of grain deliveries to the port of Constanta according to the schedules of ships that are to arrive for loading.
Acting Minister of Transport Radu Miruca announced this, Romanian media reported.
The Port of Constanta will provide information about ships, their capacity and loading periods in advance. Railway and road operators will have several days to plan transportation for each ship.
The ministry noted that this approach should reduce queues of grain carriers and trucks at sorting stations and sites that are effectively used as “mobile warehouses”, as well as speed up the export of Romanian grain.
The plan also includes reducing the time for issuing port permits, improving coordination between the port, operators, carriers and producers. The new rules should also eliminate situations where certain shipments are informally given priority during loading.
Acting Minister of Transport Radu Miruca The minister added that, in his opinion, the export blockages are not caused by a lack of railway transport capacity.
“There is no shortage of capacity on the railway. There is room for more trains. The problem is the lack of coordination,” stressed Radu Miruca.
As previously reported by USM, the port of Constanta handled 8 million tons of cargo in two months, and only 550 thousand tons were Ukrainian grain.
