Britain imposes sanctions on 12 tankers carrying Russian oil

The UK has expanded sanctions against Russian oil exports, adding 12 tankers to the list.
This was reported by USM, citing a British government sanctions notice dated October 8.
Among the additions to the sanctioned fleet are two vessels linked to the Russian shipping company Valkur LLC, which the EU had previously sanctioned for operating vessels with high-risk practices.
In total, the UK has added 38 new individuals and entities and vessels to the sanctions list. The shipping-related part of the package covers 12 tankers: Bellaris, Dakar, Daphne V, Flint Wind, Alexander Nevskiy, Anaya, Andrey Pervozvanniy, Midvolga-3, Pioneer, Vasily Surikov, Virent and Yehope.
The British government noted that these vessels transported Russian oil or petroleum products from the Russian Federation to third countries. The sanctions include, in particular, a ban on calling at British ports, chartering and operating vessels, as well as providing them with technical, crew, brokerage and financial services.
Separately, the document states that Alexander Nevskiy (IMO 9356610) and Andrey Pervozvanniy (IMO 9255268) are under the management of Valkur LLC. Both tankers fly the Russian flag and were used to transport Russian oil or petroleum products.
Valkur LLC itself has been under EU sanctions since June 15, 2026. The EU names the company’s technical manager Alexander Nevskiy, Andrey Pervozvanniy and Yaroslav Mudryy.
According to the EU, these vessels do not have proper insurance, carry out ship-to-ship transhipments and manipulate AIS while transporting Russian oil and petroleum products. The EU has classified such activities as irregular and high-risk shipping practices.
In addition, the new British package imposed sanctions on Russian Zarubezhneft JSC and JSC INK-Capital. They were subject, in particular, to transport restrictions that apply to vessels owned, controlled, chartered or operated by them.
Earlier, USM reported that South Korea supplied fuel to Russia using sanctioned tankers.
