Izmail port fulfilled 90% of the plan for annual transshipment

For 10 months the Izmail seaport has fulfilled about 90% of the annual cargo handling plan.

For 10 months, the Izmail port handled 3.35 million tons of cargo, against 3.12 million tons in the same period a year earlier. This is 90% of the planned seaport figure for this year.

Most of the transshipment volume in 10 months (70%) – ore: 2.36 million tons. This is 23% more than in January-October last year. The cargo was shipped to Austria, Romania and Serbia.

In second place in terms of the number of shipments – rolled ferrous metals: 304.6 thousand tons. The transshipment rate of this cargo has doubled compared to the volume for the same period in 2020. The products were shipped to the foreign markets of Bulgaria, Romania and Serbia.

Further in terms of volumes – coal: 125.5 thousand tons. It was sent in transit to Romania and Serbia.

About 92 thousand tons of the port’s transshipment volume in 10 months – bulk cargo: meal, soybeans, seeds. These cargoes were mainly delivered by sea vessels to Romania, Bulgaria, Spain, Italy and Turkey.

Earlier, USM reported that they plan to develop the infrastructure of sea terminals in the port of Izmail. So, within 10 years, a complex of facilities for handling and storing general, bulk and liquid cargo will be built on the 85 km section of the Danube River. The depth will be increased from 4.5 to 7 m. The terminal’s capacity is 200 thousand tons. The cost of the work is UAH 10 million (USD 378.07 thousand), the investor is Econovatika LLC.

Also, within 10 years, it is planned to place a complex for the processing of mineral fertilizers at the 8th berth and in the rear area on the territory of the industrial and transshipment complex №1 of the State Enterprise “IZM CSP”. The depths at the site will be increased to 7 m. The complex’s capacity is 100 thousand tons. The cost of the work is UAH 10 million (USD 378.07 thousand), the investor is Econovatika LLC.

In addition, a separate project is planned in the port, “more of an image”, as Istomin called it – the construction of a modern parking lot for small vessels. This is partly due to the fact that the city has recently won a grant for the purchase of several boats. A marina will be built within the Luka Kapikrayana embankment within 10 years.
