Diplomas of Ukrainian seamen can be recognized in 12 countries of the world
The Trade Union of Maritime Transport Workers of Ukraine proposes to conclude memorandums on the recognition of diplomas of sailors of Ukraine with 12 countries.
The Trade Union of Maritime Transport Workers of Ukraine appealed to the President and the Cabinet of Ministers with a proposal to conclude relevant memoranda. If it is possible to reach agreements, the diplomas of Ukrainian sailors will be able to be recognized in 12 countries, including Japan, China, Indonesia, India, South Korea, Germany and others.
“30% of the total number of vessels (more than 30,000 vessels) operate under the flags of these countries, which is 13% of the global tonnage. Most of the flags are on the “white list” of the Paris Memorandum, which is the primary proof of the guarantee of the safety of ships, as well as the guarantee of compliance with the labor and social rights of seafarers. The vast majority of countries are among the TOP-25 world economies in the shipping business,” the union reported.
As previously reported by USM, diplomas of Ukrainian sailors will already be recognized in Canada.
The Trade Union of Maritime Transport Workers of Ukraine believes that the recognition of Ukrainian diplomas will allow to expand employment opportunities for seafarers in global merchant shipping, as well as contribute to the attraction of investments in maritime transport and maritime education in Ukraine.
