The G7 countries call for the continuation of the “grain” corridor
The G7 countries supported the UN Secretary General’s call to continue the Black Sea Initiative. It is noted that the “grain corridor” led to a decrease in world food prices.
The meeting of the G7 heads of foreign affairs took place on November 3-4 in Münster. The countries have committed to encouraging the supply of more affordable fertilizers. Also, the ministers of foreign affairs of the G7 countries will encourage oil producers to increase production in order to reduce fluctuations in the energy markets.
“We are committed to promoting more resilient, sustainable and inclusive food systems around the world and call on the G20 to support these efforts,” said a communique on the results of the G7 foreign ministers’ meeting, posted on the website of the German Foreign Ministry.
Russia’s war of aggression led to the most serious global food and energy crisis in recent history. The ministers condemned russia’s attempts to use energy and food exports as a tool of geopolitical pressure, and instead promised to continue coordinating work among the G7 countries and beyond the group to help mitigate the consequences of an aggressive war for global economic stability and international food, nutrition and energy security, writes Ukrinform.
