The SBU exposed the customs officials who blocked the export of Ukrainian grain to the EU

The State Security Service blocked a corruption scheme at the Kyiv, Lviv, and Chernivtsi customs offices, where high-ranking officials blocked the export of Ukrainian grain to EU countries.

The Security Service of Ukraine exposed the management of regional customs, which organized the mechanism of illegal receipt of money for registration of export-import operations.

For various sums of bribes, high-ranking officials “guaranteed” representatives of agricultural companies unimpeded customs clearance of wholesale batches of agricultural products exported to EU countries, in particular Ukrainian grain.

Also, participants of the corruption mechanism demanded money from entrepreneurs who imported foreign goods of general use to Ukraine for further sale in the trade networks of our country.

The organizers of the scheme received “profits” of hundreds of thousands of hryvnias every day. In case of refusal to pay “tribute”, customs officials created artificial obstacles during customs procedures and made bureaucratic “refusals” to transport products.

Currently, the issue of a suspicion report for the organizers of the “scheme” is being resolved.

A pre-trial investigation is ongoing within the framework of criminal proceedings under Part 3 of Art. 368 (acceptance of an offer, promise or receipt of an illegal benefit by an official) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
