Grain traders began to buy grain again in Mykolaiv port

In Mykolaiv port there is a gradual recovery of grain purchases by individual trading companies.

At present, it is still not known for certain when and under what conditions and whether the ports of the Mykolaiv Oblast will be included in the work of the “grain corridor” at all, but “the beginning of an increase in trade activity is quite a good sign”, noted the head of the department of grain and oil markets of the APC-Inform Anna Tanska

“As we know, Ukraine calls on its partners to support the proposal to expand the “grain initiative” to the Mykolaiv and Olvia ports, but the UN does not see the possibility of implementing this proposal in the near future. Among the main reasons are security risks as long as the Kinburn Spit remains under the control of Russian troops,” she commented.

The expert emphasized that precisely because of the low liquidity of this direction, the demand prices are currently significantly lower than in the ports of Great Odesa and the Danube.

“Yes, the demand prices of traders at the port of Mykolaiv for wheat of the 2nd, 3rd and 4th classes were mainly 7300-7500, 7050-7250 and 6300-6500 UAH/t SRT-port, and for corn and barley – 6500-6700 and 5600- UAH 5,800/t SRT port, respectively,” Anna Tanska emphasized.

Currently, companies export grain from Mykolaiv by road and rail. But later, under the conditions of joining the ports of Mykolaiv Oblast to the “agreement”, increasing the number of daily inspections of the SCC, stable operation of the “corridor” and increasing exports by sea, the situation should level out, and the spread between port prices should decrease.
