The ex-head of the State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine was extradited from Lithuania to Ukraine


The former chairman of the board of PJSC “State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine” was extradited from Lithuania.

Lithuania has extradited to Ukraine the former chairman of the board of PJSC “State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine” Pyotr Vovchuk, whom NABU and SAP suspect of being involved in causing more than $60 million in losses to the enterprise.

According to the SAP, during July-October 2014, State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine officials, including the chairman of the board, together with a representative of an international grain trader, organized the conclusion and execution of foreign economic contracts for the sale of the Corporation grain products at reduced prices to controlled enterprises.

According to the scheme, the grain belonging to the state-owned company was delivered to Saudi Arabia through a number of business entities on post-payment terms.

“However, the funds for the delivered grain were never paid. As a result, the state corporation suffered losses in the amount of more than $60 million,” SAP reported.

The suspect was wanted since March 2017. After being detained in Vilnius on October 31, 2019, the exhibitor tried to avoid responsibility, in particular, he tried to get asylum in Lithuania, but he was refused.

SAP noted that the proceedings against the adviser to the chairman of the board of PJSC ” State Food and Grain Corporation of Ukraine ” and the representative of the international grain trader are currently under consideration in court.

Two more participants in the proceedings entered into an agreement with the investigation and paid the damages they caused in the amount of $60,000. In addition, another suspect in the case is wanted.
