Kernel is modernizing its rail logistics
Agroholding “Kernel” will purchase 400 tank containers for the transportation of oil. The company also ordered 2,000 railway containers from Poland.
The tank containers are necessary for the agricultural holding because there are “very few classic grain wagons in Europe and this makes it impossible to fulfill the company’s transportation plans,” the press service of “Kernel” reported.
“In addition, a long-term contract was signed with Polish partners for the production of 2,000 railway containers with a complex of transportation services. Currently, Kernel operates 1,440 containers from Polish partners, as well as 100 built by the Ukrainian research and mechanical plant “Karpaty”, the message says.
Since containers need to be transported on platforms, the company built platforms for its containers, and also concluded long-term contracts for the construction of platforms with Polish and Ukrainian manufacturers.
Most of the containers are engaged for domestic transportation. In December 2022, it was possible to reach 52 thousand tons of grain for export through the port.
“The purchase and construction of tank containers and platforms for them is a solution for the diversification and availability of rolling stock for the transportation of own volumes both in Ukraine and to Europe. The presence of containers gives the company flexibility, stability and speed of transportation in the direction of European corridors. You can transfer containers from wide platforms to narrow ones and go to the ports of Germany, the Baltic States and the Netherlands. After all, there is a developed infrastructure for container shipments everywhere in Europe,” said Mykhailo Kravchenko, head of the railway logistics service.
