A new piggyback transportation project “Ukraine – Germany” has been launched in Ukraine

LION group (Forst terminal), Nunit (Mostyska terminal) and GOL have announced cooperation and are launching a new joint service.
The companies announced this in a joint statement.
This is a route that existed in 2023-2024. This helped to further apply the experience gained to develop a modern and promising project with a new strategic vision.
The expected start of the project is July 1, 2025. Its idea is to prepare for the high season in the fall of 2025. The partner companies plan to expand operations, attract regular customers and try to operate with a frequency of 2 times a week, which will allow them to attract additional cargo.
This is a permanent service that will be operated by experienced companies at the operational level. As already noted, such a service was actively promoted back in 2023-2024 as an alternative to blocking road transportation at the borders. Now a different strategic approach is in effect. This is an alternative to European market players – LKW WALTER, which combine cargo transportation by various modes of transport – by trains, trucks and ships.
The project model provides for a continuous logistics cycle due to three sets of trailers, totaling 100 pieces: one in motion, the other – during loading, the third – during unloading.
“This approach allows us to maintain a stable rhythm of transportation without delays and downtime. By the end of June, it is planned to fully fill the rolling stock in both directions, which will allow starting full-fledged commercial operation of the route from the beginning of July,” the companies noted.
For the trial period, 1 set of trailer/container platforms (5 and 10, respectively) and about 60 swap bodies + 24 trailers will be rented. Daily service on the “Forst-Mostyska” route will be provided with first and last mile service from both ends.
The participants will determine the trial promotional period – about 3 months, during which the train will run and be filled with cargo without being tied to receiving a mark-up. Another important advantage is the short transit time. This is about 20 hours one way, taking into account crossing the border.
“So very soon, users of logistics services will have another opportunity for high-quality transportation of their cargo without the risk of missing deadlines,” the companies said in a statement.
