A parking lot for freight transport is being built on the Odesa-Reni highway

A parking lot for freight vehicles is being built near the checkpoint on the M-15 Odesa-Reni state highway.

This was reported by the State Agency for Infrastructure Reconstruction and Development of Ukraine.

Thus, the Restoration Agency is currently equipping a parking lot and recreation area near the checkpoint on the M-15 Odesa-Reni state highway (in Bucharest).

Work on planning the base of the road surface, installation of building frames (columns, beams, crossbars), installation of tiles and a wastewater filtration system, reinforcement of the subgrade slopes with monolithic concrete slabs has already been completed.

Installation of internal engineering systems (plumbing systems, electrical installation works, ventilation), installation of sanitary and technical equipment, and landscaping of the territory (greening, preparation of recreation areas, installation of pedestrian paths) are in progress.

The future site should increase throughput and provide comfortable conditions for drivers and passengers to rest. In addition, due to the optimization of traffic flows, the load on the access roads to the checkpoint will be reduced.

The rest and parking area for vehicles will have an area of 1.7 hectares. It will be designed for:

• 46 parking spaces for freight transport;

• 13 parking spaces for cars, including 2 spaces for people with disabilities.

The construction of the site is part of the CEF programs for the modernization of the international checkpoint “Reni – Giurgiuleşti”. The project is financed by a grant provided under the EU program “Connecting Europe Facility” (#CEF), which covers 50% of the costs. The remaining 50% is financed from the state budget.

This project is part of the European initiative “Solidarity Paths” and is one of the key priorities.

USM previously reported that the port of Giurgiuleşti has finally passed under the control of Romania.
