A sailor from Izmail disappeared in the port of Constanta: the search has been going on for almost a month

A senior mate from Izmail disappeared in the Romanian port of Constanta. The man was left with his wife and three daughters at home.
39-year-old Artem Chumak from Izmail disappeared on March 6 in the port of Constanta, Romania. This was reported by Bessarabia.ua.
He has been working in the maritime sector for 8 years and, together with his wife Liliya, is raising three daughters. On the evening of March 6, Artem visited an acquaintance on the ship Demetra (flagged with Slovakia) and at around 10:00 p.m. said goodbye, heading to his ship Mihayl (also under the Slovak flag). The next morning, his mobile phone was found near the gangway of the ship Demetra, but Artem himself was not on board.
The captain of the ship Mihayl reported the disappearance to the police. Romanian law enforcement officers arrived at the scene and interviewed witnesses.
However, only after the man’s wife contacted the embassy did the police conduct a diving search, but to no avail. The CCTV cameras did not record Artem, as some of them were not working at all. The shipowner Mihayl stated that he was not responsible, since the incident occurred outside the ship.
At the time of his disappearance, Artem was wearing a black and red fleece jacket, black sweatpants and work shoes. He is about 170 cm tall, has a stocky build, dark hair with graying, brown eyes and a tattoo in the form of a bird’s wing from his left shoulder to his elbow.
Anyone with information is asked to contact his wife Liliya Chumak at +380 96 217 50 94.
Earlier, USM reported that the trade union had secured the release of the detained Ukrainian sailors whose documents had been taken away.
