A vessel carrying Russian oil broke down in the Bosphorus

A malfunction occurred on a tanker transporting oil from the Russian Federation near the coast of Turkey.

Transit through the Bosphorus was temporarily suspended on January 21 due to a malfunction of the Rosneft vessel. This was reported in the Main Directorate of the Coast Guard of Turkey.

The tanker Peria was on its way to the Turkish port of Izmir. At some point, the ship dropped anchor and blocked the passage of the waterway in both directions.

The tanker was towed to the Kuciukcemece pier in Istanbul. 2 Turkish tugboats were involved in the operation.
