An explosion occurred in Italy on a tanker that could be transporting Russian oil

Two explosions were heard on the moored tanker Seajewel in the city of Savona, which is part of a fleet transporting oil from Russia.
This is reported by Ukrainska Pravda.
The 245-meter-long and 42-meter-wide Seajewel tanker was built in 2009 and is currently sailing under the flag of Malta. It arrived in Savona on Friday, February 14, from Algeria.
The cause of the explosion is currently unknown, but one of the versions is that an explosive device was placed on the ship – this is evidenced by the nature of the damage to the ship.
The Italian Coast Guard is currently conducting an investigation on site together with divers.
It is also worth noting that it is currently unknown whether there was any sanctioned cargo on board, but journalists note that since 2022, the Seajewel has been repeatedly spotted in the Russian port of Novorossiysk. In addition, in 2024, the tanker was spotted at least three times in various Russian ports.
USM previously reported that India has been refusing to allow a sanctioned Russian tanker to enter the port for a week.
