Ankara responded to the Russian strike on a Turkish vessel

Turkey has officially responded to the Russian shelling of a Turkish vessel heading to Ukraine.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry published a corresponding statement.

“It has become known that two of our citizens, who were part of the crew of a Turkish-owned vessel under the Panamanian flag, which was attacked by a drone near the port of Chornomorsk in Ukraine on the morning of June 22, were injured,” the ministry said.

The Foreign Ministry added that the condition of the victims is being closely monitored by the Turkish Embassy in Kyiv and the Consulate General in Odessa.

“We convey to the authorities of both countries our concern about the attacks that threaten our interests in the Black Sea and regional security as a result of the escalation of the Russian-Ukrainian war. We call on all relevant parties to take measures to reduce tensions in the region,” the Turkish ministry said.

Let us remind you that the other day Russia attacked three vessels heading to Ukraine: the sailors were rescued by the Navy of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
