At the Odesa Customs, a sunflower exporter was “saved” from taxes on UAH 13 million
At the Odesa customs office, officials contributed to tax evasion by an exporting company for UAH 13 million.
Two current and three former officials of the Odesa Customs Service were informed of the suspicion of abuse of office, the Prosecutor General’s Office reported.
The director of the exporting company is suspected of tax evasion and official forgery.
According to the investigation, from October 2022 to February 2023, Odesa Customs officials issued certificates of origin of agricultural products to a company exporting sunflower crops on the basis of documents containing false information.
Later, these certificates were used by the director of the company in order to export agricultural products without hindrance and avoid paying taxes by reducing the export duty.
Such actions of the suspects caused more than UAH 13 million in damages to the state budget.
Searches were conducted at the place of residence and work of the suspects. The issue of taking precautionary measures and removing current officials from their positions is being resolved.
