Australia will send Ukraine 70 thousand tons of energy coal

At the request of the government of Ukraine, Australia will provide at least 70,000 tons of energy coal to enhance the energy security of our country.

The Australian authorities worked with coal industry enterprises to accumulate coal volumes so that assistance to Ukraine would not affect the country’s energy situation. This was announced by the Minister of Energy of Ukraine German Galushchenko.

The Australian company Whitehaven Coal is organizing the shipment of energy coal to Ukraine. Now the governments of both countries are working out the issue of early delivery.

It is also noted that the cost of coal and its delivery will be covered by the Australian authorities.

Ukrainian ports, that could receive the cargo, are blocked due to the military aggression of the Russian Federation. Most likely, coal from Australia will be delivered by ship to one of the EU countries, and from there the cargo will reach Ukraine by rail.

Earlier, USM reported that the largest energy company in Ukraine, DTEK, because of the war purchases coal from Poland. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine, the company has received about 17 thousand tons of coal. In total, DTEK imports 60 thousand tons from Poland.
