Bad weather in Ukraine affects cargo transportation

About 400 settlements were cut off due to bad weather in 10 regions of Ukraine; several roads, which are the way of land transport to the ports of Odesa, are also blocked.

In particular, due to difficult weather conditions in the regions of Ukraine, I (“yellow”) and II (“orange”) levels of danger are introduced. For example, bad weather caused dozens of traffic accidents in the Odesa region, some of them involving grain trucks. In addition, the Odesa – Reni highway, which leads to the port of the same name, is closed for traffic.

According to the head of the State Agency for Reconstruction and Development of Infrastructure, Mustafa Nayem, as of the morning of November 27, drifts up to 1.5 meters high are still forming on the roads.

“The most snow is on the roads of Odesa (70-200 cm) and Mykolaiv Oblast (up to 60 cm). In the north of Ukraine – 20 – 30 cm, in the west and in the center – 10 cm. Due to an abnormal amount of snow and strong gusts of wind in the Odesa region, traffic is very difficult in 14 areas. 315 vehicles were caught in the snowdrifts. In the Mykolayiv region, there are 4 difficult areas, 7 vehicles are stuck in the snow,” said Nayem.

Nayem also reminded that the following roads are still closed in the Odesa region:

• M-15 Odesa-Reni, km. 11-920 – km. 307+718;

• M-16 Odesa-Kuchurgany, km 0+000-59+175;

• M-05 Kyiv-Odesa, km. 274+435 – 466+700;

In addition, the Odesa-Pivdenne road leading to the Port of Pivdenny is closed for heavy vehicles.

There are currently no official reports on the consequences of difficult weather conditions for logistics enterprises.
