British Navy intercepts Russian corvette and tanker in English Channel

The UK has reported a significant increase in the presence of Russian warships near its waters.
This is reported by CNN.
The British patrol ship HMS Severn has intercepted the Russian corvette “Stoykyi” and the tanker “Elnya” during their passage through the English Channel over the past two weeks. The UK Ministry of Defense reported this on Sunday, emphasizing that the activity of Russian warships near British waters has increased by 30% over the past two years.
After escorting Russian ships in the English Channel, Severn transferred the surveillance mission to an unspecified NATO ally off the coast of Brittany (France).
In addition to the ships patrolling along the country’s coast, London has sent three “Poseidon”-type reconnaissance aircraft to Iceland. They are taking part in a NATO mission to monitor Russian ships and submarines in the North Atlantic and the Arctic.
USM previously reported that the US Coast Guard was monitoring a Russian spy ship near Hawaii.
