Chornomorsk Port reimbursed more than 18 million unpaid taxes

SE “MTP Chornomorsk” reimbursed the state 18.7 million UAH of unpaid taxes.
An employee of the Chornomorsk Sea Trade Port SE is suspected of deliberately evading taxes on a particularly large scale, the prosecutor’s office of the Odesa region reports.
The investigation established that the port official deliberately evaded payment of VAT and corporate income tax by overstating the tax credit and gross expenses.
“In the reporting periods from 2015 to 2018, he included in the tax credit and gross expenses sums of funds for fictitious financial and economic transactions with a number of enterprises and unjustifiably reflected these sums in tax returns,” the prosecutor’s office said.
Such actions led to the fact that the state budget did not receive 18.7 million hryvnias.
At the beginning of April 2023, the port compensated the damages, fines and penalties in full amounting to 28.3 million hryvnias.
It should be noted that the criminal proceedings against the port employee were referred to the court.
As previously reported by USM, in February 2023, the former head of the Chornomorsk Port customs post was arrested for bribery. He demanded and received an illegal benefit for the unhindered export of grain and the issuance of certificates.
