“DTEK Energo” imported more than 100,000 tons of coal from Poland
DTEK Energo imported more than 100,000 tons of coal from Poland for Ukrainian thermal power plants.
As of today, DTEK Energo has imported 103,000 tons of coal from Poland to the company’s TPP, ДТЕК. DTEK reported.
The obtained fuel allows Ukrainian heat generation and the energy system as a whole to pass the heating season more reliably.
Deliveries continue regularly, because DTEK plans to import another 177,000 tons of thermal coal by the end of the autumn-winter period, within the limits of the volumes contracted by the company.
“Due to the cold weather in recent days, the load on the power system has also increased significantly. Especially for thermal generation, which balances it with its shunting capacities during peaks of electricity consumption,” explained Ildar Saleev, CEO of DTEK Energy, about the need to import coal.
We will remind you that before the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, most of the imported coal was delivered to Ukraine by sea. For example, in January 2022, reserves of thermal coal at TPPs and CHPs in Ukraine exceeded past indicators, mainly thanks to sea deliveries. Then, since the beginning of autumn, DTEK imported 1.2 million tons of coal, of which more than 70% (858 thousand tons) was delivered by ships.
