Egypt wants to create a Ukrainian food hub

The Minister of Agrarian Policy discussed with the newly appointed Ambassador of Egypt to Ukraine the expansion of cooperation in the agricultural sector.

This was reported by the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine.

The parties discussed the potential for increasing Ukrainian-Egyptian cooperation in the field of agriculture.

In particular, they discussed the issue of reducing the deferral of payments to Ukrainian exporters for delivered goods, the abolition of some trade restrictions and duties, as well as the possibility of creating a Ukrainian food hub in Egypt.

“The trade turnover in agricultural products between Ukraine and Egypt in 2024 amounted to $ 1.4 billion. This is 32% more than in 2023. The basis of our exports was corn, wheat, soybeans, oil. In turn, we import citrus fruits, potatoes, nuts and other products from Egypt the most,” Vitaliy Koval reported.

The Minister stressed that cooperation between Ukraine and Egypt should be mutually beneficial for both parties. The parties agreed to create a joint working group that will develop a roadmap for resolving current issues.

Earlier, USM reported that a hub for the export of Ukrainian agricultural products could be created in Oman.
