Erdogan will discuss with Putin a new mechanism for the export of grain from Ukraine
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will discuss with Russian dictator Putin a new mechanism for exporting Ukrainian grain through the Black Sea.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said that efforts are being made to find “new methods” of transporting Ukrainian grain to world markets, writes Reuters.
“The previous grain agreement worked under a certain mechanism, now it has become clear that there is an opportunity to use another mechanism, and efforts are now being made to flesh out this possibility,” Fidan added.
According to him, Erdogan will raise this issue during a meeting with Putin on February 12 in Turkey.
Ankara is trying to convince Russia to return to the Black Sea Grain Initiative, from which Moscow withdrew in July 2023.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkey reminded that some vessels were able to transport Ukrainian grain from the Black Sea even without this agreement.
“We want to clarify this de facto (situation) with the help of a new mechanism,” Fidan emphasized.
As previously reported by USM, in September 2023, the negotiations between Erdogan and Putin on the renewal of the Grain Agreement proved fruitless.
