EU countries exported more than 20 million tons of wheat
The countries of the European Union have exported more than 20 million tons of wheat since the beginning of the season.
According to the European Commission, as of March 3, EU countries exported 20.9 million tons of soft wheat, reports “APK-Inform”.
This result is 2% lower than the indicator for the same period of the previous season.
France (5.7 million tons), Romania (4.9 million tons), Poland (2.6 million tons), Germany (2 million tons), Lithuania (1.9 million tons), Latvia (1.4 million tons) and Bulgaria (1.7 million tons).
Morocco (3.1 million tons, or 14.6% of the total supply), Nigeria (2 million tons), Algeria (1.9 million tons), China (1.4 million tons) and Egypt (1.3 million tons).
At the same time, analysts of the European Commission recorded a decrease in wheat import rates by EU countries during February. This equaled the total volume of grain purchases at the beginning of March with the result of the previous season – 6.4 million tons.
Ukraine remains the main supplier of grain to the EU – 4.3 million tons, or 69% of the total volume.
Earlier, USM reported that the European Commission will propose to limit the import of grain from Russia and Belarus.
The proposal for quantitative restrictions on imports is presented against the background of protests by European farmers and calls from Ukraine to take such a step.
We will remind, despite the embargo on some types of agricultural products from Ukraine, Poland continues to import the same items from Russia and Belarus. Ukrainian journalists learned about it.
