European ambassadors approve new sanctions against Russia, next step for EU Council

The new package of restrictions will include sanctions against the “shadow fleet”, as well as the financial and energy sectors of Russia.
EU ambassadors have agreed on another package of sanctions against the Russian Federation. This was reported by the editor of Radio Liberty, Rikard Jozwiak.
In parallel, additional restrictions were also agreed – for systematic human rights violations, hybrid intervention in other countries and the proliferation of banned chemical weapons.
The official approval of the sanctions package may take place as early as May 20 – during a meeting of the EU Council on Foreign Affairs.
Also, the day before, the Verkhovna Rada supported the bill on sanctions against the “shadow fleet” of the Russian Federation.
