Export of durum wheat has been banned in Russia

In the Russian Federation, it was forbidden to export durum wheat for half a year.

The government of the Russian Federation introduced a ban on the export of durum wheat until May 31, 2024. The relevant order was signed by Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, reports “APK-Inform” with reference to rosZMI.

However, the document provides for a number of exceptions when the ban will not apply. In particular, this is the export of durum wheat for the provision of “international humanitarian aid” and within the framework of intergovernmental agreements. Durum wheat was allowed to be exported to the countries of the so-called EAEU only with special permits.

Earlier, the government of the Russian Federation reported that only from July to November they exported 657,000 tons of durum wheat. Currently, it is difficult to calculate exactly what share was sent for export by sea, but the Russians report that Italy and Turkey actively bought grain during this period.

What is even more surprising is that during the same period in 2022, the terrorist country exported only 52,000 tons of this agricultural product.
