Export of Ukrainian grain by sea decreased by 25%

In January, the world received a quarter less agricultural products from Ukrainian ports than in December.

In total, 77 ships shipped 3 million tons of agricultural products from the ports of Greater Odessa to the countries of Africa, Asia and Europe in January, which is 25% less than in December. At that time, 94 ships exported 3.7 million tons of grain, the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine reported on Facebook.

Thus, the volume of export of agricultural products through the ports “Odesa”, “Pivdennyi”, “Chornomorsk” decreases every month. During half a year of operation of the grain corridor, the world received 19.7 million tons of food, while it was supposed to receive more than 30 million tons.

The only obstacle to the access of Ukrainian grain to the world markets is the actions of the russian side in the SCC, which blocks the inspections of vessels in the Bosphorus and the registration of new vessels to the Initiative by all available means and under invented pretexts.

The ministry emphasized that the rate of ships leaving the ports remains critically low. Yes, 2-3 ships depart from Great Odesa per day. In addition, in January the ports were operating at only 30-40% of capacity due to a shortage of loading fleet.

Every day, the SCC plans to carry out ten inspections per day, but the russian “inspectors” successfully complete only half of them. Thus, in January, the SCC conducted 204 inspections, of which 173 were successful.

It is interesting that 31 inspections were not completed due to the premature and arbitrary end of the working day by “inspectors” from  russian federation or due to the russians’ claims to the ship’s documents, which should not be checked by the SCC.

The registration of vessels to participate in the Initiative is also slowed down. With more than 80 vessels declared, the representatives of the aggressor country, without explaining the reasons, register 2-3 vessels per day. As of February 4, 120 vessels were awaiting inspection in Turkish territorial waters.
