France fines owner of Russian shadow fleet tanker for one million euros

France has imposed a fine of one million euros on the owner of the Tagor tanker, which belongs to the Russian “shadow fleet”.

This is a vessel that was detained by the French Navy in the Atlantic at the end of May, “Ukrinform” reports.

“The owner of the tanker was fined for not having a proper flag and refusing to comply with the demands of the French military,” said Brest prosecutor Stephane Kellenberger.

It is noted that at the time of the detention, the Tagor was sailing under the flag of Cameroon, but the French military suspected that the flag was false.

The vessel, which was already under sanctions, had previously changed flags several times. In particular, the tanker used the flags of Madagascar, the Marshall Islands, and Panama.

Earlier, USM reported that the captain of the shadow tanker Tagor was arrested in France – Russia is demanding his release.
