Freight rates from the ports of Ukraine do not meet the request of shipowners

Low freight rates for bulk carriers from the ports of Great Odesa are due to the fact that the flow of grain remains quite limited.

Yes, panamax freight rates have decreased somewhat this week. Shipowners in other market segments managed to keep rates at past levels. However, shipowners currently cannot insist on the desired tariffs, because the flow of grain remains quite limited – despite the beginning of August.

Currently, the freight rates for “kosters” from the ports of Great Odesa are:

• in the direction of Marmara — 18-19 USD/t;

• to St. coast of Greece — 20-21 USD/t (-1 USD/t);

• to St. Mediterranean — 22-24 USD/t;

• to St. coast of Italy — 27-28 USD/t;

• to St. coast of Spain — 29-30 USD/t;

• in the direction of Israel — 29-30 USD/t.

Recently, USM wrote that more than 60 million tons of goods were already exported through the Ukrainian maritime corridor.
