Freight rates in the Black Sea are recovering


Demand for sea freight from exporters is gradually recovering due to early grain trade activity.

Freight rates for vessels in the Black Sea are increasing. This is influenced by trading activity with early grains and renewed attacks on ships heading through the Red Sea, Spike Brokers writes. 

In particular, barge freight on the Danube has become more expensive. Moreover, the freight rates for “handy sizes” and “coasters” are kept at the previous level.

Market rates of transportation from river ports:

• Izmail-Constanta (1-3 thousand tons) — 11-12 euros;

• Izmail—Ruse/Silistra (1-3 thousand tons) — 17-18 euros;

• Izmail-Israel (5-7 thousand tons) — 26-27 dollars;

• Reni—Marmara (5-7 thousand tons) — 16-17 dollars.

The market rates of transportation from the port of Chornomorsk to the eastern coast of Italy (30-35 thousand tons) are 20-22 dollars, in the direction of southern China (60-65 thousand tons) – 52-54 dollars, southern Vietnam (60-65 thousand tons) tons) — $50-52, to Bangladesh (60-65 thousand tons) — $52-54.

Recently, USM wrote that the prices of Black Sea wheat for Egypt have decreased.
