FTZ with Turkey: port concessions, resorts and sea rescue
Minister of Infrastructure Olexandr Kubrakov listed the areas of cooperation with Turkey within the framework of signing an agreement on a free trade zone.
Now Ukraine and Turkey are working together on an agreement in the field of maritime search and rescue in the Black Sea. The document will help legally assign to Ukraine the areas belonging to it, improve the possibilities for conducting search and rescue operations.
“This will eliminate the insinuations on the part of the aggressor country about Ukraine’s failure to fulfill its international obligations,” Kubrakov stressed.
Trade cooperation in the Black Sea is also important. Officials see promising cooperation between Turkish partners and SE “Commercial Seaport Yuzhny”. In the future, it is able to accept the largest vessels that will enter the Black Sea thanks to the built Istanbul Canal.
According to the minister, this could open up new markets for transportation by large-capacity vessels for Ukraine.
“Some Ukrainian ports are also open to concessions and other forms of public-private partnership,” Kubrakov said.
Also next in line is the expansion of cooperation in the field of multimodal transportation. Ukraine proposes to create special conditions to ensure transport chains with Turkey in the “road-port-road” format.
Among other things, Ukraine hopes for the participation of Turkish partners and investors in Ukrainian projects for the development of sea resorts.
