This was stated by the Head of the Shipping Administration Mykola Kravchuk following a meeting with the Director of the Maritime Transport Agency of Georgia Ivane Abashidze.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the features of the seafarers’ certification system in Georgia, as well as the role of digital technologies in increasing the efficiency of this process. The Georgian side expressed its readiness to share its own experience in improving the system of training specialists and issuing qualification documents with the Shipping Administration.
“Based on the results of the conversation, we are working on possible formats for interaction and exchange of expert assistance,” Kravchuk wrote.
Other topics include the risks of the activities of the “shadow fleet” for the safety and well-being of seafarers, support for Ukraine within the framework of cooperation in international organizations, as well as opportunities for Georgian investors. In particular, a relevant and promising direction of cooperation is the development of ferry connections between Georgia, Romania and Ukraine.
Separately, Kravchuk informed the Georgian side about the consequences of the recent missile attacks carried out by the Russian Federation for critical infrastructure and public sector work processes.
