Germany plans to dispose of seized Russian tanker

Germany is considering scrapping the tanker Eventin, which was seized at the end of March.
The ship is carrying 100,000 tons of crude oil worth 40 million euros, Der Spiegel reports.
The German Finance Ministry said the seizure of the ship would pave the way for its liquidation along with its cargo. However, there are no exact details of the process at the moment, as customs procedures are ongoing. It is known that the crew on the tanker has already been changed.
It is also reported that the Eventin, which sailed under the Panamanian flag, was transporting Russian oil from the port of Ust-Luga to Egypt. In January, the ship broke up near the island of Rügen in the Baltic Sea, after which it was towed to the German coast.
In February, the EU added the tanker to a list of vessels suspected of belonging to the Russian “shadow fleet”.
As previously reported by USM, in January Germany banned the tanker Eventin from leaving German waters. The vessel was confiscated in March.
