Greek tankers transported over 52 million tons of Russian crude oil in 2025

In total, in 2025, tankers owned by companies from Greece made 447 voyages from Russian ports in the Baltic Sea.

This was reported by the head of the project of the Institute of Black Sea Strategic Studies  Andriy Klymenko.

He clarified that this is only crude oil and only the Baltic Sea for the entire year 2025. Last year, tankers owned and/or operated by companies from Greece transported 52 million 329 thousand 193 tons of Russian crude oil. This is 40.48% of the total volume of crude oil, which amounted to 129 million 250 thousand 575 tons.

“Over the past year, 447 trips were made from Russian ports of the Baltic Sea by tankers (Crude Oil Tankers) owned by companies from Greece, and the total number of trips by crude oil tankers was 1,109. This is the largest share of carriers: the rest of the countries of registration of shipowners are trifles of 7-12%, — noted Andriy Klymenko.

As previously reported by USM, from February 1, the EU lowers the ceiling price for Russian oil to $44.1 per barrel. Any sea transportation of Russian oil with the participation of European services will be legal only when the price in the contract does not exceed the new threshold.
