Harmonization of legislation will open the way for Ukrainian ports to integrate into European logistics networks

Ukraine is preparing for the screening of transport legislation within the framework of European integration.
This was reported by the Ministry of Development.
A meeting of the Working Group on Transport, which is engaged in preparing Ukraine’s positions within the framework of future negotiations on accession to the EU, was held.
The working group includes the Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development, representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the Ministry of Economy, the Ministry of Energy, the Committee on Transport of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, as well as specialized enterprises, institutions, business associations and public organizations.
The group’s task is to quickly identify critical points and problems that may arise during the adaptation of the transition to European standards in the field of transport, as well as to propose realistic ways to overcome them.
The participants of the meeting paid special attention to the development of merchant shipping and inland waterways shipping, which are critically important for supporting exports in wartime conditions.
“Maritime logistics today is a key element of Ukraine’s foreign economic activity. It is not only about the economy, but also about the food security of both our state and the entire region,” said Deputy Minister of Community and Territorial Development Andriy Kashuba.
According to him, this is why Ukraine needs to harmonize legislation so that Ukrainian ports can fully integrate into European logistics networks and work according to uniform rules.
Earlier, USM reported that a meeting of the USPA with a delegation of the European Parliament took place in Odesa.
