In the Russian port of St. Petersburg, a vessel caught fire – allegedly during welding work.

A large-scale fire broke out on the Russian icebreaker “Yermak”. The ignition took place on February 29 at around 11:30 local time, rosZMI writes.

The Russians claim that the fire was caused by faulty welding. At the same time, it was initially stated that construction debris was allegedly on fire.

The fire started on the first deck, but later the fire spread further. So the firefighters “saved” the second deck as well. At the same time, the burning area increased from 20 to 35 square meters. 12 units of equipment and 46 people were involved in extinguishing the fire.
