In September, most rail grain shipments went to ports

Rail grain exports decreased, but almost the entire volume of cargo was sent to seaports.

In the first 16 days of September, 1.05 million tons of grain cargo were exported by rail. This is 19.2% less than in August and 8.8% lower than in the same period last year, writes Rail.Insider.

979.5 thousand tons were delivered to Ukrainian seaports, which is 93.4% of total exports. 69.4 thousand tons were sent to western border crossings, or only 6.6%.

In total, 981 thousand tons of grain were loaded on the Ukrzaliznytsia network in September — an indicator that decreased by 12.5% year-on-year. 1.25 million tons were transported in all modes of transport, which is 10.2% less than last year and 11.4% less than the previous month.

Earlier, USM reported that the operators of the Odesa port collectively appealed to the authorities due to the cost of transporting goods by rail to the ports.
