Iran increases imports of russian grain


The Iranian ambassador said that the country is increasing its purchase of russian grain.

Iran’s Ambassador in russia Kazem Jalali emphasized that Iran aspires to become the number one importer in russian federation, writes TNA.

“Starting from 2021, the process of grain purchases inside Iran is changing. Last year, I believe, we were in second place in terms of the volume of purchases in russia. Next year, I think, we will be in the first place,” Ambassador Kazem Jalali said.

Iran will need to import at least 7 million tons of wheat per year. Last year, the country imported 16.5 million tons of grain, while wheat accounted for about half of the total volume.
