Koval: Ukraine ranked third among suppliers of agricultural products to the EU

Ukrainian agri-food exports to the EU have increased to 13 billion euros, providing 8% of imports.
This was reported by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Vitaliy Koval in the Interfax-Ukraine column.
The minister noted that according to the European Commission, in 2024 Ukraine became the third supplier of agricultural products to the EU, providing 8% of total imports.
“The value of Ukrainian agri-food exports to the EU in 2024 reached 13 billion euros, increasing by 11% (+1.3 billion euros) compared to 2023, which confirms the ability of the Ukrainian agricultural sector to meet the needs of the EU market,” said Vitaliy Koval.
The basis of Ukrainian exports was grain (4.5 billion euros), oilseed and protein crops (3.1 billion euros, +709 million euros) and vegetable oils (3 billion euros, +946 million euros).
Despite a 12% decrease in the cost of grains due to world prices, their physical volumes of supplies to the EU increased by 6%. This indicates Ukraine’s ability to maintain stable supplies to the EU even in conditions of falling world prices, confirming its reliability as a partner.
Also, last year, Ukraine provided 59% of the total volume of grains imported to the EU, emphasizing its strategic importance.
“At the same time, the EC report records a drop in agricultural imports from Russia to the EU by 46% (-865 million euros), mainly in the oilseed and grain categories, as well as a change in the shares of other suppliers, such as a slight decrease in South American countries (Mercosur) in grain exports to the EU (from 16% to 14% by volume). This objectively strengthens Ukraine’s role in meeting the EU’s needs for grains,” the Minister of Agricultural Policy emphasized.
As previously reported by USM, Ukraine and Sweden discussed the export of agricultural products through the Baltic Sea.
