Lack of applications provoked a decrease in freight rates for coasters

Freight rates for container ships from Danube ports have decreased.
This is reported by analysts at Spike Brokers.
“Freight rates for container ships from Danube ports have decreased due to the lack of new applications and the limited number of cargoes in the region, which has strengthened the position of charterers and forced shipowners to adjust prices,” the report says.
Thus, the cost of transportation from Izmail to Italy has fallen to $27–28/t.
The situation in the ports of Great Odesa remains stable, and transportation prices have not changed.
“The presence of a large number of free vessels combined with a deficit of stable cargo flows continues to affect the maritime transportation market,” analysts note.
Freight rates for hand-sized containers from Chornomorsk to Italy are $16–17/t, and to Spain – $17–19/t.
Market rates for transportation from river ports:
• Izmail — Romania (1-3 thousand tons) — 8-9€;
• Izmail — east coast of Italy (5-7 thousand tons) — 27-28$.
Market rates for transportation from sea ports:
• Chornomorsk — east coast of Italy (30-35 thousand tons) — 16-17$;
• Chornomorsk — east coast of Spain (25-30 thousand tons) — 17-19$.
