Latvia is preparing a large-scale protest against the transit of Russian grain through the country’s ports

A protest action against the transit of grain from Russia and the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine through the country will take place in Jēkabpils, Latvia on November 7.
This is reported by LSM.
Up to 2,000 people and 150 to 400 tractors are expected to take part in the “No to Bloody Grain!” action. The protest has been coordinated with local authorities.
Participants will demand a ban on the transit of Russian grain to Latvian ports. This will be the second such action.
Ruta Dimanta, head of the charity Ziedot.lv, also criticized the continuation of the transit, saying that trade with Russia actually helps finance the war.
Latvian Prime Minister Andris Kulbergs previously explained that a complete ban on transit is difficult, since some of the Russian grain is purchased by companies from the United States, Japan and other partner countries of Latvia.
USM previously reported that Ukraine, Britain, and Latvia will launch a joint verification of grain origin.
