Lukoil’s Dubai division may fall under EU sanctions

The European Union is considering imposing sanctions on Litasco Middle East DMCC as part of its crackdown on Russian tankers.

According to documents obtained by Bloomberg.

Dubai-based Litasco Middle East is the trading arm of Russian oil giant Lukoil.

The sanctions could be the first time Western governments have imposed restrictions on Litasco since Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.

“Its parent company, Lukoil, was the second-largest seller of Russian oil on foreign markets last year,” Bloomberg notes.

The proposals for imposing sanctions require the support of all member states and could change before they are approved. They are part of the 17th package of EU sanctions against Moscow, which is planned to be adopted at the end of May.
