Mariupol port lost a third of cargo turnover due to actions of the Russian Federation
The port of Mariupol told how the actions of the Russian Federation in the Sea of Azov influenced the work of the enterprise.
The management of the Mariupol and Berdyansk branches of the State Enterprise “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority”, as well as the State Enterprise “Mariupol Commercial Sea Port” carried out an online meeting with representatives of the US Embassy in Ukraine – the Head of the trade and investment department Elaine Hensl and analyst of the economic department Olena Sochneva.
The topic of the meeting was the question of the impact of the opening of the Kerch bridge in 2018 on the functioning of the Mariupol port. They also discussed how the reviews of the FSB vessels of the Russian Federation on the way to the ports of Azov influenced the economic indicators of the port.
The Head of the Mariupol Port Authority Serhii Gusakov and the Head of the SE “MCSP” Igor Barskiy said that due to the hostilities in the Donbass, the construction of the Kerch bridge and unreasonable delays of vessels, the Mariupol port has almost tripled the volume of cargo handling. The number of shipping to Ukrainian ports on the Sea of Azov has more than halved since 2014, which affected the economic performance.
